Ethical Standards

IDRC champions the Awareness of Interior Decor Standards and an unanimous opinions of their members where conflict occurs within certain Governmental jurisdictions deemed detrimental to their operations. Membership within Interior Decor Resources Canada was created to embody all persons and companies engaged in the Interior Decor Industry with a goal to offer products and services with ethical standards of behaviour, begetting respect, responsibility, integrity and professionalism. Members are expected to conduct themselves and their businesses in a legal, ethical and moral manner that is expected of a respected professional.

IDRC MEMBERSHIPS ARE ALL GOVERNED BY THE ETHICAL STANDARDS AS EXPLAINED ABOVE. MEMBERSHIP IN IDRC DOES NOT IMPLY RESPONSIBILITY OF IDRC ON THE PRACTICES AND BEHAVIOR OF IT’S MEMBERS OR ANY REPRESENTATIONS MADE ON IDRC BEHALF THAT ARE NOT PREVIOUSLY SANCTIONED.

Applicants who are already members of another recognised related Industry Association or Group with similar qualification standards will also be considered for membership subject to the decision of IDRC Board of Directors.
A IDRC member may be nominated and elected to a honorary office on the Board of Directors of IDRC provided they are not an active member of another trade association within the Interior Decor Industry.

MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATION requires applicants to meet certain criteria within the following categories:
The following are Annual Membership dues for each Membership Category
 a/ RCIDP, REGISTERED CERTIFIED INTERIOR DECOR PROFESSIONAL- $250.00 /annual (which shall include Decorators, Designers, Architects and Stagers) must have completed a recognised Interior Decor/Design course of study and obtained either a Diploma or Certificate OR have been self employed and/or actively engaged in a reputable company within the Interior Decorating Industry for a minimum period of 2 years. With voting rights and access to IDRC Trade suppliers. Either copies of proven business registration or letter of employer reference should accompany RCIDP application.

b/ IDRC TRADE PROFESSIONALS $250.00/ annual being those persons or companies that supply services to the Interior Decor industry, which shall include decor retailers, trades persons, sales agents, representatives and workrooms. With voting rights and access to IDRC Trade suppliers. Other persons who can specifically show their commitment to furthering the advancement and well being of the Interior Decorating Profession will be considered for membership on a one on one basis by IDRC management.

c/ INTERN/GRADUATE MEMBERSHIP is open to any graduated student from a recognized course of Interior Decorating/ Visual Arts & Design study, at a special rate of 75% off for 2 years with proof of graduation. IDRC membership starts from the date of graduating Certificate/Diploma. Thereafter, membership shall upgrade to Certified Interior Decorator/ Designer. Intern members may participate in IDRC events and be entitled to wholesale pricing from IDRC supplier members. As with each of the above other membership categories they shall be entitled to a vote at IDRC meetings.

d/ STUDENT UNDERGRAD MEMBERSHIP $0.00 ($30.00 administration fee for non Ontario students) while in training will receive a complimentary STUDENT membership to IDRC entitling them to benefits of IDRC as afforded to all other members. No voting rights until their graduation. Each subsequent under grad year shall be FREE MEMBERSHIP after which they can upgrade to Category “C” – INTERN GRADUATE .

The Ethical standards of IDRC shall prevail upon all types of IDRC memberships.
